Mount Vernon Baptist Church
Children's Director

Mount Vernon Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Children’s Director.  Salary, benefits, and the like will be based on the experience, education, and skills of the applicant. This person will be responsible for all children from birth to 5th grade and will work closely with the pastoral staff.  This person must be able to manage a large volunteer base, build teams, communicate vision effectively, make disciples, and minister to a multicultural congregation. They are to understand the need to minister to families and be able to help equip parents to lay a solid Biblical foundation and implement spiritual disciplines. It is preferred that the applicant have suitable experience and a degree. Specific duties will be discussed during the interview process.

Job Description
This is a part-time position that calls for someone who loves middle school and high school
youth and has a passion to provide a solid foundation for their Christian growth and
development. The responsibilities of this position are to oversee the planning and
implementation of the programs designed to accomplish this purpose.
Qualifications
1. Have a genuine Christian salvation experience and a commitment to the ministry of
Greenway Baptist Church.
2. Live a balanced life of prayer, Bible study, rest, worship, and financial stewardship.
3. Have a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
4. Possess the knowledge and ability to guide youth to become baptized disciples
of Jesus and to then lead them in their spiritual growth and development.
5. Have knowledge and experience in developing and implementing youth
ministry programs and activities.
6. Possess values and theology that are consistent with Greenway Baptist Church.
Job Duties
1. Effectively work with the senior pastor, support his vision for the church, and
coordinate and direct the youth ministry at Greenway Baptist Church.
2. Oversee all aspects of youth programming. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching,
Sunday morning Bible study, Wednesday night activities, youth trips (both for fellowship
and for spiritual growth), service opportunities, fundraising, and budget planning.
3. Support staff in the ministries of the church as a whole.
4. Formulate a plan for outreach and follow-up to the parents of youth participating
in the various programs and ministries.
5. Have a clear vision for the direction of the youth ministry and use constructive
criticism and reflection for program improvement.
6. Recruit and train volunteers to assist with the various programs in youth ministry.
7. Attend staff meetings when called by the senior pastor and discharge other duties
as assigned.
8. Be willing to deliver the Sunday message occasionally in the senior pastor’s absence.
Hours and Benefits
This position is classified as a part-time employee with a maximum 20-hour work week
with one day in office. Because ministry duties are very fluid, the hours will be flexible
to accommodate the youth’s programming. The position reports to the senior
pastor. Benefits are consistent with current church policies for part-time employees.
Compensation
• Salary: $20,000 – 25,000 commensurate upon experience.
